Earphones originally stem from the phone-earpiece. The earliest operating unit was designed by Nathaniel Baldwin, who had manufactured it by hand in his kitchen in the early 20th century.

Headphones are really tiny speakers which happen to be put near to your ear drums, and are then plugged into an audio source, for instance a radio, media-player, CD player, or television. Some other popular names for Headphones are headsets as well as stereo-phones. They also are simply called “cans”.

In the 1920’s, headphones that were made by Brandes were put to use for radio stations-work. But these headphones had a bad audio quality and also did not have the convenience of any HiFi headphones that are being designed nowadays, like for example the sennheiser pxc450 or the sennheiser rs180 headphones.

What is HiFi?
The term Hi-Fi or High Fidelity is used to differentiate high quality sound and also graphics, as compared with rather poor quality sound processing. Hi-Fi equipment, such as HiFi earphones, have only negligible noise and distortion. They moreover feature a precise frequency response, like for instance the dt880 hifi from beyerdynamic.

In order to standardize the definition of “High Fidelity”, The German Institue for Norming DIN created in 1966 the norm of D.I.N. 45-500. This was done to offer consumers the assurance that the equipment possesses high quality reproduction. Yet in the longer term, the name “HiFi” had been often misused to basically any kind of sound system that not really ever satisfied any DIN specifications.

The later part of the 1950’s till the early 1960’s was really “The Golden Era of HiFi”. It was once the development of the single – groove stereo record cutterhead by Westrex made way to a brand new level of home-audio we are way more accustomed to today.

The Different kinds of Hi-Fi Headsets:
Headphones have come a long way out of being common ‘cans’ that featured very poor sound reproduction, to Hi-Fi earphones with crisp sound quality. Today, there are numerous types of Hi-Fi Headsets; they can be split into 2 types: the not open-back as well as the opened-back types.

Closed Back or Sealed-Back HiFi headphones are built to minimize external noises and also help keep any audio generated by the headphones from leaking out. This kind is generally employed in planes, studios, or in an office.

The full sized-closed back also known as circumaural Hi-Fi headset possess air-tight earcups which go over / seal the whole ear. This is actually the kind that can truly repel external sounds. One downside however, is usually that any audio that is being generated by this type of headset, sounds almost ‘boxed up’.

Vented Backside or Open Back Hi-Fi headphones are designed to let audio to flow out from the headphones to generate a more natural sound, which is known as “wide sound stage”. These types of headphones provide a more natural sound compared to the Closed Back Hi-Fi headphones.

The downside of this particular type of Hi-Fi headphones is that it isn’t suited to use in public places in which exterior sound can disrupt the listening experience;  moreover, audio out of the earphone could be an annoyance to others.

Human beings always look for methods on how to improve things, including headphones. And the way to enhance headphones is e.g. to make the sound quality better, as businesses have carried on to achieve this for about a century now. Today, listening to your much-loved tunes at the convenience of your home is very much like enjoying a live band; now that is certainly high fidelity.
